The .50CAL B-3 is made from authentic veg-tanned, North American sheepskin, and is hand dyed with broken grain character like our Eastman B-3. However, that's where the likeness ends. The .50CAL B-3 represents a spec which saw the transition from the earlier 'Redskin' jackets to the later dark Seal Brown versions.
JACKET - Flying Type B-3 Eastman® Seal or Russet Brown facings Standardised as the 'Type B-3' on May 8th 1934, its design was principally inspired by the British 'Irvin' flying jacket, which had been put into service with the RAF a couple of years earlier. It would be the standard issue 'Heavy Zone' flight jacket for the next 10 years. SHELL
Description This contract's full designation is 'W535 AC-17756'. It was the first contract awarded to Rough Wear for B-3s, in 1941. In the late 30s/early 40s the sheepskins used for shearling flight jackets were veg-tanned and hand-dyed which produced a mottled, patchy appearance.
